（I acquired my bachelor’s degree and honed my soft skills and character over 17 years in the Wisconsin prison system. During my time, I remained productive and focused on returning to society prepared to apply the humbling and energizing lessons I was learning the hard way. I designed and ran programs (particularly a mental health program for two years), wrote often and had a number of written works published and performed far beyond my confines (links in my profile below), and eventually created a nonprofit in 2014 called The Community (thecommunitynow.us). The Community helps system-impacted people reach their full potential through Pre-entry and Correcting the Narrative.
These activities caused me to be offered a scholarship for the Masters of Sustainable Peacebuilding graduate program at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, which involves being a community fellow at the Wisconsin Decarceration Platform. WDP is creating a one-stop hub for all the resources and events in the reentry/reform ecosystem in WI with the goal of increasing communication and collaboration among the various groups. I also host a podcast called All In Wisconsin and am a member of several local and national committees focused on reentry/reform/decarceration work.
I am also co-owner of Paradigm Shyft: Reentry Strategies and Consulting (P.S. – elevating afterthoughts and bottom lines). And I am co-owner of D’s Trucks, a transportation company focused on hiring people with criminal records
I am looking to connect with any competent, sincere individuals to see in what avenues we can assist each others’ professional and personal endeavors. Keep moving forward.
