Dr. Darren Wheelock

Dr. Darren Wheelock is an associate professor of Criminology and Law Studies in the Department of Social and Cultural Sciences. He serves as the director for the Criminal Justice Data Analytics Program and also as the Faculty Liaison for the Educational Preparedness Program (EPP) for Justice-Impacted Students. His research interests include examining the connection between public support for criminal justice policies and racial attitudes. His work also investigates the factors that influence sentencing in intentional homicide cases and the use of pretrial detention. He has also conducted research on identifying and better understanding the challenges individuals experience when reentering their communities after being released from prison. He teaches Race, Crime, Punishment, the Criminology and Law Studies Capstone, and Social Statistics.
